In early October Agua Yaku teamed up with volunteers from Christ Community Church in Ames, Iowa in a unique way to deliver water filters and clean water stations to a number of communities in “Los Valles” of Santa Cruz. After three days of drilling a water well in the community of La Verdad, a couple of hours east of Santa Cruz, We traveled via truck and motorcycles to rural mountain communities between Samaipata and Vallegrande, visiting schools and health posts where we installed and demonstrated the use of water filters and clean water stations. Many other local families and teachers were able to purchase (at a substantial discount) a filter for their personal use. We especially had a big turn-out in the community of Lagunillas where more than 20 families lined up for their chance to get their own filter. Take a look at the gallery below. We will post a video summary of our week shortly.
